Josh Ackerman (email)

Josh Ackerman is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Michigan. His work explores the role that adaptive psychological mechanisms play in behavioral and decision-making environments. This has included research on topics such as self-control and risky decisions, romantic relationships, sensory effects of touch, and his current research focus - understanding how exposure to contagious disease cues and bodily factors such as immune system functioning interact to influence various forms of social behavior.

Lisa Feldman Barrett (email) (website)

Lisa Feldman Barrett, PhD is University Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Director of the Interdisciplinary Affective Science Laboratory (IASLab) at Northeastern University, with research appointments at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Barrett’s research focuses on the nature of emotion from both psychological and neuroscience perspectives, and her research incorporates insights from anthropology, philosophy, linguistics, and the history of psychology. She has edited five volumes, including the Handbook of Emotion and the upcoming Psychological Construction of Emotion.

Brent Donnellan (email) (website)

Brent Donnellan is a Professor of Psychology at Texas A & M University.  He investigates research questions at the intersections of developmental psychology, personality psychology, and psychological assessment. His current efforts focus on evaluating connections between personality trait development and functioning in family relationships as well as functioning in agentic settings such as work and school.  Brent currently serves as the Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Research in Personality.

Debra Lieberman (email) (website)

Debra Lieberman is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Miami. She earned her PhD at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She has published in the areas of kinship, emotion, and morality. Her current research interests include human kin detection, specifically the cues males use to identify offspring; gratitude and its role in the formation of friendships; and the role emotions play in the legal sphere, for instance in cases of provocation.

Jon Maner (email) (website)

Jon Maner is a Professor in the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. His work blends social psychological and evolutionary perspectives to tackle questions related to social hierarchy, mating, affiliation, intergroup psychology, and a range of other topics. Prof. Maner has received several awards for his research, including the APA early career award and the Sage young scholar award. Prof. Maner received his doctoral degree in social psychology from Arizona State University in 2003.

Batja Mesquita (email) (website)

Batja Mesquita is Professor and Director of the Center of Social and Cultural Psychology at the University of Leuven (Belgium). Most of her research focuses on the dynamic relationship between culture and emotions. Her current research topics include emotional acculturation, and emotions in groups and dyads. She is an Associate Editor for Psychological Science and currently serves on the Editorial Boards of Emotion  and Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. She has edited two books.

Rebecca Shiner (email) (website)

Rebecca Shiner (Ph.D. Clinical Psychology, University of Minnesota) is Professor of Psychology at Colgate University and, starting in 2015, Executive Officer of the Association of Research in Personality. Dr. Shiner served as Associate Editor of Journal of Personality and was included in Princeton Review’s Best 300 Professors (2012). Dr. Shiner’s research centers on personality development in youth and young adults, including structure, stability and change, and the influence of personality on positive life outcomes and the emergence of psychopathology.

Jim Sidanius (email) (website)

Jim Sidanius is a Professor of Psychology and African and African American Studies at Harvard University. His research interests include the evolutionary psychology of intergroup prejudice.  He is the recipient of the 2006 Harold Lasswell Award for Distinguished Scientific Contribution in the Field of Political Psychology awarded by the International Society of Political Psychology, and was the recipient of the 2013 Career Contribution Award conferred by the Society for Personality and Social Psychology.

Linda Tropp (email) (website)

Linda R. Tropp is Professor of Psychology and Director of the Psychology of Peace and Violence Program at UMass Amherst.  Her research concerns how members of different groups approach and experience contact with each other, and how group differences in status affect cross-group relations.  Tropp is a Fellow of APA, SESP, and SPSSI, and she has received numerous research and teaching awards from professional societies, as well as the 2013 Distinguished Academic Outreach Award from UMass Amherst.
